at the shop that did my install...

Gt500 are the top of the Pyramid for sure
but I have a hard time dropping even $30,000 for a nice car. I would love to have that sort of Factory Vehicle...but I'll build one before I pay $50,000 in Name Rights.
You can get a stripped GT brand new for about $24-25,000. Do a 5.4 4v & tranny swap for another $20,000. Add a Whipple Blower and a few other goodies for $10k to ensure the car doesn't grenade when you launch it.
That is about $55,000 right there. A custom GT500 for sure...but equally wicked and a ****-ton more performance...for about the same $$$$ as a GT500 straight off the showroom floor.
more power to ya if you can afford one. Wish I could. Till then, I'll go the way of mygt500 and build a version of it

btw, something is funny with that guys car.
maybe he should go over his reciepts and make sure they did all of the install they said they did.
I know my Blower from Roush left 30-40 HP on the table because of their Super-Safe tuning. With good tuning, you could squeeze almost +50 HP out of that blower.
I'd almost bet they did all the engine work, but didn't do the rotor tweaks and/or the pulley upgrades.

I'm confused... Shelby doesn't have headquarters in Dallas. I thought it was in North Las Vegas... have they moved?
I know they have authorized some outside shops to do some of the new conversions but just the same, why would you have it done anywhere other than the SAI shop? They had dozens of GT500s there being made into SSs.

didnt mean their actual headquarters. just one of the shelby factories that do the supersnake upgrade package. It had a big shelby supersnake badge in between the two air vents and said DALLAS, TX right there on the plaque.

No offense taken and in 10 yrs- yes the SS will be worth more esp since it is likely that Carroll Shelby will have passed away (God bless him and hope he doesn't but he cant live forever) and the value IMO of all Shelby's will go up or remain the same. Your still paying for the name IMO and 30K can go alot further at any custom shop other then Shelby's (I can name 10 right now that can out do Shelby)
On that note I love anything having to do with Shelby and the man himself is a legend and his position in the car world is no doubt going down in the history books and he will be remembered by anyone that has any type of knowledge of cars. I want my own "real" GT500 (2010+) and I will mod it from there at the custom tuning and installing shop that I trust and for much less then the guy that bought the SS option for.
To each his own is my point and even if I had the money it would not go to Shelby Motors for a 30K upgrade that yielded 530 RWHP. I am at 465 RWHP right now with my GT and it cost way less then any stock GT500 and I get way more, looks, compliments, and interest on the street and at shows then any GT500 I have come across at shows or on the street.(yes even SS GT500's)
anyway rant off.......

There is a guy in town that has a GT500 he snubbed me at a light. I hope he pulls up next to me and wants to give it a go....
Whatever, I like my car and plan more upgrades.. If I had $30k I'd use it to mod the heck out of my car.

Not defending the GT500 in any way but... you missed the Brakes and the suspension upgrades that the GT500 gets.

Never pay for a shelby name. It's a pure waste and insurance costs more. Not that money seemed to matter for this guy. He should have just modded the hell out of a base gt and had the body work done to match as close as possible. A bill like that would surely suck.
