At least our batteries have caps that you can remove to see if there is still water in there and to check the specific gravity of each cell.

the more I look around for a new battery, the more the optima looks like a good deal. Everyone want's $82.99 for their batteries and the optima red top is only $169. If it last twice as long or even 1.5x as long, then it's worth it to me.

Moosestang, let me know what size Optima you end up getting and if it dropped right in or if you had to do anything to make it fit. I might just replace the g/f's battery in her '06 with one considering I can get it for $99 after a $25 rebate.

My 07's battery died already but dealer changed it under warranty for free. Let's see how long this one lasts. Once warranty expires I'm switching to Optima.

I had the battery issue on mine Moose and the Battery tender has been the answer for me. Mine is not a DD though so the point is mute...(lucky if I drive it once every week or 2 or 3 -depending on the weather). Every Ford I have owned still retained the original OEM battery. My DD is 7 yrs old and the battery is original and I have a 1200 watt system in the car that draws big current (stock alternator-car is a inline 4 cyl).....regardless I hope that battery stays in the "green"......get the optima...sure it will be the last you need.

I was at Farm & Fleet yesterday and the sale signs were still up but I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the details. I'll probably take a cruise out there again next week sometime and see. I'm in no rush since both my and the g/f's batteries are hangin' in there. But for that price I thought I'd replace her battery as Preventive Maintenance before it takes a dump. I was hoping to get some feedback regarding which Optima will fit or if there's any "adjustment" that's required.

Her '06 Pony is her DD but she only drives a mile to work (but she WILL take it out often and blow out the carbon). My '07 sits in the garage for 1-2-3 weeks at a time, like mygt500's does, except I don't keep a tender on it. So far no problems.

Yep I also replaced my Factory certified Pre owned 2006 battery 1,000 miles after the warranty was up! Walmart batteries are great and they are easy to replace there on warranty exchange.

My battery was going dead every other day (not my DD car). Ford replaced it with several new batteries all within 6 months and a new shaker 500 (I've lost the count on new batteries, my Stang had under 16,000 miles during this bullcrap) the last time the battery went dead Hubby pulled the shaker 500 and we bought a new stereo and presto...no more dead batteries. I've had the new stereo since May and had no problems at all. Even had the Mustang parked for over a month without starting it and it started right up. So I know that someone will say it's not the shaker but that was my problem. My shaker kept freezing up and locking my CD's in it. Also kept running thru the CDs on startup. Oh well, atleast my car is happy now and I know that when I go to drive it, it will START!
