I change every 3000 miles, 5w20 Royal Purple with K&N Filter. Waste of money, maybe... as long as I -feel- I am doing good, I'll keep doing it till something proves me otherwise. I've run Motorcraft Premium (Dealer change, but who knows what they put in really.) and Mobil 1, but Royal Purple seems to have the best results for me.

Edit: PS, Not supercharged. Just saying.

I ran 5w20 with the motorcraft FL-820s Oil Filter on my RoushCharged 5.4 3v (same as the 4.6 2v/3v btw)

That is what Roush specified when I called and asked their Tech Support

been using those 2 for almost 10 yrs now without any single problem. Oil goes in that nice amber color...and always comes out damn near the same color 3,000 miles later.

Oil is cheap...Motors ain't. My engines tell me they are clean with the oil coming out purty, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I've always been of the opinion that the filter matters more than the oil. Any major brand oil you can buy off the shelf should suffice. The last K&N oil filter I bought was $9.50 from Autozone. Seems dirt cheap to me. /shrug As far as viscosity... I run what it calls for in the manual. I don't second guess what the designers of the vehicle recommend.

I change mine every yr and once a yr before storage....no issues and use 5w20 Mobil 1 and K&N HP filter. What is the benefit for going to 5w30? Not recalling what I read earlier...

Royal purple is a great oil, you can run way longer then 3000 miles. And for your proof get a oil analysis done http://www.blackstone-labs.com/

i was told due to the extra heat of the supercharger the 5w30 would be better, also due to the heat in texas
