Stripes and the Police

Kudos to you facacc.
I've had my car 6 months and have been pulled over twice. The first time was in downtown Cleveland; the officer said the computer files for the registration were outdated (or something like that - the generic "you're doing everything fine, continue on your way" type of thing). Very courteous and respectful officer. Highly recommended way to get pulled over for the first time.
About 2 months later, a cop ran a red light at an intersection while I was going through (no sirens or anything, he simply ran the light). It scared the **** out of me because I knew that, if he hit me, officers who would arrive at a crash may want to help out their friend and blame me for a crash, which is a scary thought.
In downtown Cleveland on a Friday or Saturday night, there are insane numbers of police cars. I will never understand why. Perhaps it is because, if you time it right, you can blast through a 25 mph zone at 75 mph into the heart of downtown and get 15 green lights in a row. Thankfully, I believe that no one has actually tried to do this.
I wish the police would put a stop to streetside valets in some parts of the city. There are a few places with 1 lane in each direction and streetside parking, and the valet service means cars and people constantly dart in and out. Anyone who has been to Cleveland's Little Itally on a Friday or Saturday evening knows what I mean.
