Thumbs down For people who are looking for a new 1- piece driveshaft or have converted to.

So I bought a 1 piece DS about a year ago from sutton HP and had terrible vibrations ever since. * Plus they do not offer this shaft anymore! * Now that I am on vacation I have a few extra moments to look over my car and fine tune the things I did not have a chance to before. I took my shaft to a highly reputable drive shaft builder here in Atlanta, immediately when the tech saw the shaft he told me this shaft is a Ford Ranger shaft!@~?? To my amazement I was floored, he said; yeah a bunch of people go junkyard bowling finding new body style rangers and buy the drive shafts off them. Then they get the shaft shortened and balanced for under $100.... WTF?! For about $200 I could have done the same!

Just a heads up for the people that did not know this yet.

here is a link to buy a brand new ranger shaft,

Just a little pissed spending over $500 on something that needs to be fixed and is not sold on their site anymore...

So did you fix the vibration problems? Buy a new shaft?

Says it fits 3&4L engines. Could this work on a 4.0 mustang without vibrations you think? I'd still rather buy a shaft specific to these cars but if it saves me a couple hundred dollars and wont have vibrations (maybe cuzz ur a 4.6?) I'd have to give it more consideration...

spyder has been doing this for a long time. He makes great shafts too. Well worth the 400-500 to get one from him knowing they are done right for our cars.

It's not fixed yet I doped it off this morning. Worse case I told them to build me a new one that is a true 3.5" shaft since the current one still rubs, so I might have to sacrifice for a steel one.

Sorry Wally you fell for it too... I guess the other folks on this forum are right, just take a part from another year/ model and jack up the price and change the part number and call it a new part for the s197s!?.

I had no idea it was off a ranger, until today. Marketing at its finest!

Shaftmasters doesn't cut down Ranger shafts, they build their own shafts from the ground up. I've never had a vibration with my Shaftmasters. (www.shaftmasters.com)

Let us know how it turns out. I'm close to Atlanta so if someone can build a reliable shaft for 200 or so then i'll probably look into buying one.

+1 on Shaftmasters, it has worked flawlessly for me.

drfister - Don't try and shave a few hundred by getting a cut down shaft, you could have some serious problems if anything happens to that shaft, especially on the highway. Just spend the extra and do it right.

Don't meant to hijack this thread, but how do you guys compare the spydershaft to shaftmaster? Interested on opinions. I'm glad to find out about this there's almost 200$ difference that I could save
