V-10 fits into the bay of the SN-95/New Edge
S197 engine bay looks bigger to me than my old 2003 GT
of course, the weight of the engine will make the car a horrible driver...but I guess it would be cool to say you had a 6.8L motor in your Stang.

Don't you put a GM motor in there, I'll ban your ***!
460 (yeah it's a Ford) transplants have been successfully done in a S197 engine bay.
Plenty of room left to hide a Messican, lol.
Any old school big block won't be as wide as the quad cam 5.4, so the challenge for fitting, resides only in fabricating descent engine mounts.
Having said all that, big blocks are a nono because of huge extra weight...
The best push rod mill I'd do is a 351W stroked to 408 or 427.
600+ hp N/A, hell yeah!!

Pontiac Transam in 1979 came with a 400 cubic inch PONTIAC motor. There was a 455 in the TransAm 1970-1974 thats all.
They never had 454 chevy engines in them. Why would you put any GM engine in a Ford?

As for what size... This is why I love the LSx engines... 427 Small Block!

'Twas probably the "corporate" (Chevy) 305. A good engine really, but people didn't like 'em. By '79 they were really low compression, and smogged down to very little power. A good friend of mine had an '80 T/A with that 305... That car ran forever, but was pretty sorry for a T/A.
Oh; my choice for a BIG engine in the S197 would be an aluminum Ford big-block. Not too heavy, and torque for days.

I'm surprised no one mentioned the Kaase Boss Nine. Jon Kaase installed a Boss 429 (stroked to 589 c.i.) into a Mustang GT.

thnx guys, sirknight, what size engine was that? i couldnt hear if there was any real audio over that ****in beast lol...
lol, dont worry pascal i wouldnt do it, i wouldnt forsaken the fords, ive just wanted a TA with a 454 and he said my stang is sick enough, that i should just put the 454 in it, and i didnt fully consider it, but it did just get the gears in my head turning with that old "well i could" attitude.
and to zkiller, ive found 79 T/A's with both a 403 and a 454, so idk whats up, you may be right, but ive seen an awful lot that have a 454 that say matching numbers etc... but i dont think ive seen a T/A with a 302 though...
its just ive always liked the old style hard camming "glug glug glug" over a more modern steady "purrrrrr" like when you hear a gt500, you think "damn thats got a set of *****" but i want it to sound like "damn, that things going to stand up on its hind wheels and rape me if i dont give it a goat for sacrifice..."
