Mistaken Identity... of a '10
My g/f (who owns an ’06 Pony) and I just returned from a 1500 mile road trip. On Friday the 24th, we were eastbound on the Ohio Turnpike when our conversation went like this:
me: “Is that a Mustang back there? Look about ¼ mile in our lane behind us.”
g/f: “I'm not sure. I don’t think so. The grill looks wrong.”
(30 seconds later, car slowly gaining)
me: “I think that’s a pony emblem… nahhhh, can’t be. The front end just doesn’t look like a Stang.”
g/f: “It’s not a Stang.”
me: “I think it’s a Focus.”
(30 more seconds, car gains a little more)
me “WTF? That IS a pony emblem.”
g/f: “No way…. SH*T! You’re right. It’s a pony emblem… On a Focus? No way that’s a Mustang”
(car pulls into passing lane and slowly passes us)
me: “Honey, that’s a ’10 Mustang”
g/f: “OMG. It’s a sad day when you can’t tell a Stang by it's front grill.”
me: “Sadder still when a Mustang is mistaken for a Ford Focus.”
me: “Is that a Mustang back there? Look about ¼ mile in our lane behind us.”

At least you knew it was a Ford. I had an old lady ask me if mine was a Pontiac.
