The stock LT came with around 280bhp. But, they respond quite well to mods. Some headers, intake, roller rockers and other basic mods add up quickly. I came from the LT world and was expecting the same results from the 4.6. Was not the case I quickly figured out. But our hp/psi of boost will always be better. But I'd rather not spent the $$ for FI just yet.

I fully agree with you Big... I too had a LT1, LT4 and several LS1's... all those motors respond amazingly to bolt on mods... and when I got this car I found out quickly that the 4.6 doesnt respond the same... name calling GM for the LT1 that beat you makes your car look like a even more piece of **** as you would say.... Obviously GM did something right with those cars to make them respond so well to simple mods... so you gotta atleast respect that... now to the topic... LT1-LT4 both are very torquey low HP motors... low end torque... which would explain how he could stomp you in the lower speeds... but 60+ you should be pulling on him... pending he had no blower or turbos or cams or what not... LS1's would be the exact opposite *for your future questions* gears and engine breather *bolt ons, full free flowing exhaust* mods might help you out a bit but I cant promise you a win...
dont forget about the other side of putting gears on....yes you would probably pull on him early, however, if you top out he could catch back up. I guess it's what you're using to call the win with...
