My ignition key won't unlock my door???
I purchased my car over 3 years ago and never before have had to unlock my door using the key since I got a keyless entry alarm on it. A couple of weeks ago the battery on my remote died right in the parking lot of my building which was a good thing, and even though I knew the car wasn't gonna start unless I disable the alarm I decided to try and use the key just to see if it was gonna work and to my surprise... IT DIDN'T?! My concern is if my alarm dies for whatever reason does it mean I won't be able to get into my car and even if I do am I going to have to leave it unlocked everywhere I go till I get the alarm fixed? Or if I decide to get rid of the alarm am I going to have to get 2 door locks? I tried the key on both sides too and it didnt work on either one of them. It's a "great feature" and stuff... does anyone elses Stang come with it?

It's a good possibility that the ignition locked was changed but not the doors, trunk and glove box. The previous owner probably lost their keys or it was stolen. If it's a GT, I can tell you to do a full lock set, including ignition, you are looking at about $1200 at the dealer. I had to personally bite the bullet. They can change the locks to match your ignition key though so you don't have to do all.

I don't like one key that works on all the locks. Maybe you want to have a key made to work on the door, trunk, and glove box. That way you are not leaving a key to everything with the valet parking attendant. There is the chance that the attendant will lock the door and not be able to open it; that's a downside. To eliminate that, you could have the door lock keyed the same as the ignition, and use a different key for the other locks. All this is assuming that you don't leave the RKE fob with the attendant.
I like cars that come with a master key that opens everything, and a separate valet key that only works on the ignition and door.

I don't let valet drive my car, neither do I ever leave my key with them, so I'm not worried about all that. The key DOES work to unlock the trunk. It's just the doors that are the problem. Also, I purchased it brand new so the "previous owner" part is not one of the options here. Sounds to me that I'm one of a few that have this problem and I'm going to have to contact the dealer tomorrow and most likely have to get a rent a car for 2-3 days while they are working on it. Hopefully they won't break anything. Thanks for all your responses guys

Perhaps since you haven't ever tried to use the key, the lock cylinders are just siezed? If that is the case, you could probably spray some graphite or other type of lubricant in and try to work them free. That is what I would do anyway.
