It's plenty fast enough for me, that's for sure. I don't need 500HP when the speed limit is 60mph and cops are everywhere. I also don't track my car.

I'm happy to declare ignorance but the FRPP CAI on 2010 looks way different than the 2009-2005. Yes I know stock 2010 has an airbox with snowflakes on it but what type of power increase is reasonable to expect from a CAI on the 2010 when it appears like Ford has already adjusted the tune.

Sorry for being the noob here.

+1 yep.

Other than longing for a bit more torque, it suits me OK.

65mph, eh?

Haven't seen a 60mph limit in CA for quite some time now.

Ditto.

Inexperience (and realizing it, more importantly) and because it's my D.D. limit me from this venture, for now.

On the mileage thing - I wonder if at 60 MPH the engine is lugging in 5th. This might explain the mileage being better in 4th at that speed. Perhaps 5th is not really very good until you are up around 80 MPH or so?

Interesting observation. Will have to play around with it when I get her. Supposed to have it next week.

I can't wait to get a SC. But it does feel great the way it is now. I ran the stock intake and tune the other day just for the hell of it and I didn't like it at all.

I noticed that with the mileage too and I'm leaning toward 5th gear is lugging if your not over 60.

Noob question:

Aside from the apparent results of this issue within the thread, is it fair to say lugging tends to suck up more fuel?

That's very interesting if true about the "lugging." My previous car, a 2007 Mustang V6, would get 30+ mpg in 5th gear at 60 MPH. There was a real savings in fuel when combining low speed with 5th gear. I had my tires inflated near 40PSI for the freeway driving.

Do you guys recommend inflating the tires on the 2010 a little higher for better freeway MPG or does it not make an appreciable difference?

I'm definitely not lugging the engine in 5th @ 60mph - but I also have 3.73 gears. The engine doesn't seem to lug unless I'm under about 1500rpm in a higher gear. I can coast along at 1000rpm in 2nd in LA traffic.

If you lug any engine it will tend to use more fuel. The reason is that in order to lug an engine, you will have the throttle open further. This will cause you to use more fuel.

Try this, if you are ever on a grade long enough and you have your foot deep in the throttle in 5th. Do not change speed but shift to 4th. Depending upon your speed, you will notice that you have to lift the throttle to maintain the same speed. So even though the engine is spinning higher RPM, your fuel efficiency is improved.

But you probably already knew all of that
