The noise i get is strange. And now that i think about it cant really be from the gears since it occurs when i downshift and makes the noise with the clutch disengaged. Best way i know to explain is it the sound Dr. Zoiberg makes on futurama...

i took mine to a local shop(asapbyed) and it cost me $800 total and mine whine. i came back to the shop early and he was training a new guy. he would tell him what to do and then he would come back to check on him. i only took it there cause he said he has done hundreds. how long of a warranty is there usually on installation warranty? also there were the good ford racing gears "A" with all new bearings and also the car at the time had 3400 miles on it and now it only has 5400 miles on it. it was done 9 months ago and whine is getting worse.

$800 and it whines!? Oh damn.

I was planning on getting my dealer to do it for $700 (parts + labor) but it would suck to pay that much and get whine. But, supposedly the guy they have at my dealer who does the FRPP parts is really good. When my car was new, they completely rebuilt the rear-end due to some noise all under warranty and it's been quiet ever since.

I honestly think they would be a great seller....a great in-between gear. Right now, most who install 3.73's wonder if they should have just gone with 4.10's and those that install the 4.10's and are not happy, either learn to live with it or go back to the 3.73's.....Ford Racing 3.90's would help with allot of that.

For my buddy, it was not very long. Maybe 1 or 2 retrys and then they told him they couldn't do any better and he'd have to live with it! It appeared when the shops started losing on the deal, he was either stuck having to hassle with the shop in his broke car or finding another shop that said they could fix everything....it was pretty sad!

Me personally, I was very surprised and disappointed these shops wouldn't step up and fix his car...or even pay for another shop to fix their screw up. Fortunately, this last shop is going above and beyond by just replacing the entire rear end under Ford warranty. The owner is an old Ford guy and still has connections....needless to say, he earned my respect.

damn 05 mustang lol how do you guys get so lucky with these shops going above and beyond

i was charged $650 for labor alone, dismount and remounting the watts link they added on 150, and they messed up the install, they whined AND squeaked. they didnt keep it all clean so there was debris on the bearing which caused the rear end to squeak but chicane took care of all of that for me

my 05 gt, i am going in for the fourth time for my 410's so don't feel bad. i wonder if these 3link susp have something to do with the noise transfer. good luck ,at least my shop is going in for the 4rth time, new gears each time now frpp 410. this sucks the big one. i wish they would pay for wasting my time as well...jim

find out how they are doing it. also make them write down how much shim they used on each side of the diff and pinion gear and make them tell you your backlash. its really not that hard to set up gears so they are probably not doing it right.
