Default good price on 07 v6?

I have been offered a deal from a friend of my father. He's a mechanic and he is offering me a 2007 mustang v6 convertible for $12,000 canadian. the car is american built but i am living in canada. I could probably talk him down to $10,000. It is fully loaded and he will be shampooing the interior and repainting the exterior if I buy it.

I was wondering if I should jump on this deal or let it slide and keep looking.
its only got 16,000 miles on it so roughly 25,000km.

Don't get me wrong, i would love to go out and by a new gt or a 2010 camaro(sorry to the hardcore stang lovers, but chevy did do a nice job with that car lol)

the reason im not doing that is because i am young(19) and I am saving to invest in real estate so i shouldnt be throwing down payments on a 30 thousand dollar+ vehicle

i've been suffering from depression for quite some time now and i have to say, taking the mustang out for a spin after driving a 2000 honda crv for years.. i couldnt wipe the smile off my face haha

I would really appreciate some opinions on the 07 deal. I would also consider getting the 07 supercharged

I bought an '06 V6 Pony package with 9600 miles and in mint condition this past April for $13,500 US from a dealer for my g/f. I'm not current on the exchange rate but I'd be hard pressed to pay any more than $11,000 US.

If you want a REAL smile though, go drive a GT.

i'd guess somewhere around $10-12k american (and that's about the going rate for a private seller according to kbb)

Adding to my previous post, if you're thinking of getting an '07 V6 and then going FI, it would be better to put the $$ you'd spend on the '07's blower and get a GT instead. You'll have more power to start with and then can go FI on the GT when you save enough.

The posters above are right in every aspect.
* A V6 Convertible sells for more than a regular coupe, so that price is about right
* If you want to supercharge a V6 you are talking around $4-6K, add that to the price of what you are spending for the car and you can find a used base GT for that amount.

If you are patient, keep looking and you could land a better deal. Don't get me wrong, I love my V6 and it is what I wanted, but you sound like you want more power to start with.

my question is... why would it need to be repainted? Did he never wash it? Did he hit something? was he hit? Etc...

ah sorry i wasnt clear about the paint job. what i meant was just minor details not a full job, just any small spot like from pebbles fyling around etc

i have seen the car myself and its honestly in beautiful condition. the milage is very low

i personally havent seen a better price yet but i really appreciate the input from everyone. and keep in mind this would be my first car. the honda i drive is a family car. i think an 07 v6 vert is a pretty nice first ride to own.

i just have cold feet because i hate spending money but if the price sound good/right to everyone then i will have nothing to worry about

and also i dont have to get it supercharged. because truthfully it only takes so much hp to get a ticket right and where i am if you go 50km over the speed limit the cops take your car(literally towed from where they pull you over) im sure there are laws similar to this all over

i like the car i just need to see what you all think because i would hate to spend money and then feel ripped off

Before you jump on it, make sure that top works properly also check for any signs of water leaking into the trunk as well as any carpeted areas inside the car. There have been some issues with leaks.
