Is my Battery a victim of my Shaker 1000?

FYI, if you're checking battery voltage to help determine if you're battery is on the verge of taking a crap (btw, this method is not accurate at all but better than nothing), be aware that there will be a residual charge on the battery from the alternator charging the battery from the last drive. This residual "surface" charge typically "decays" after 12-24 hours and can give false indications that the battery's at-rest voltage is better than what it really is. Just like getting on the scale 1st thing in the morning to check your weight, take a voltage reading after the car has sat overnight and before you start it. I'd raise an eyebrow if it's consistently below 12.6 volts. Also, if you can get someone to crank the engine while you watch the meter, voltage should not dip below 9.6 volts (this is temperature dependent and could go lower the closer you get to 0 deg. F). And like everything else, please be careful when doing ANY work under the hood. Safety first.
However, best bet is to find a place that will do a free load test.
