Default be careful what you ask for (TSB Nightmares)

So I have been patiently waiting and now it is time to vent....

So on November 18th I brought my car in to have them look at a few issues I been dealing with. The service manager and I agreed on three. Separator plate buzz, the A-pillar rattle, and a syncro issue.

All seemed good until about 1pm (I dropped it off at 7:30 AM) when I got the call that even though I told them about the trick with lowering the K-Member to get the transmission out with the supercharger, they inform me that the supercharger is going to need to come off (chargeable) for them to be able to get my transmission out. I tell them no it doesn't, and the the manager invites me to come down and take a look. I say OK, and am down there by 1:15pm.

So we walk out to my car still up on the lift. As he starts mono-logging while we comfortably stand under the car about how this or that are in the way and it cant be done, I am poking at my phone. As soon as he is finished talking I hand him my phone where he then sees this:

and inform him that if he looks he can see that this was done with me laying on my back on jack stands. He holds it up for his tech to see and gives him a blank stare. Turns to me and says, "show us." I reach up, twist the transmission into the 10 oclock position and signal for a small adjustment on the transmission stand, pull the transmission out, then tell the tech to let it down. Total time under car, less then 5 minutes.

So that aside, not that bad... Until I call that Friday, when my car is supposed to be ready. Theres apparently a special tool they need to pull the syncros or something that holds them in. They didn't have it and ordered it Wednesday, it should be in Monday or Tuesday. I call Tuesday to check on progress, it hasn't come in yet, Thanksgiving coming. I decide not to bother them the day after Thanksgiving, so I call Monday. The tool is on back order, there hoping to have it by Wednesday. I haven't called them back again yet, probably will today, but in the words of my favorite football commentating staff.... C'MON man....

They need to hire you JD as one of their Tech supervisors. LOL
I hope they gave you a rental while you are waiting.

Pretty ridiculous situation. Sometimes I wonder about the dealers. I couldn't even get a simple cabin air filter for my car without having them order it in. Frickin annoying.

sorry for all your troubles...

hard to believe the service manager
would let you work under the vehicle.
i wonder if they will be calling you back
for your assistance, when it's time to
mount it back up.

maybe you can slip on some oil and
retire with the settlement.

lol.... yeah, that would be sweet. I'm actualy happy he did, or else all this would be costing me some green, as of now, everything covered. I think he cut me some slack for prior to this having some conversations with him and knowing what I'm talking about. That and before they even took it in, I told him exactly what they had to do to get it out. They admited though that this is the first transmission they have had to pull on a 05+ so now they know for any future pulls.

yeah i'm glad they were so flexable.

i looked at the service manual again and
there is no mention of having to lower the
engine or clock the tranny, so i can see
why they would get worried when it wouldn't
just back out....

And we usually just drop the car off and trust they know what they are doing on warranty work. Makes you wonder what kind of training these guys have.

i think they are trained just fine, but the tranny
job is one of those where the manual isn't
100% instep with reality and for the most
part, they like to follow the manual step by
step.
