Remote Start Messes With Alarm?

Remote Start Messes With Alarm?
I'm considering getting remote start very soon as a little Xmas present to myself...the weather we've been having lately has me really considering it.
I have the factory-installed passive alarm system on my car and have heard people say that remote start messes up the alarm system. Is this true and if so, what can be done about it? Should I have the dealership do the install?

I had it done at the dealer, came to $459 labor and taxes in. It's a 2010 and still under warranty, so I figured dealer was the way to go. Beware though, I called several dealers and the price at some was $200 more for the same remote start!

Do the install yourself its not hard and many here can help. I bought an Asian wolf and installed it myself in an afternoon. I had about $90 invested. All factory security stuff still works and I have the passive alarm as well. Plus you can program the remote to do all kinds of stuff along with everything the FORD FOB does.

Not to sound like a d1ck or anything, but autostarts are a waste of money. I had one when I first got my car and within a few months I had severe starting issues. The tune or the PCM was rejecting the starting signal and I ended up pulling the system out. It was before I knew any better & had a crappy "Prestige" autostart put in. Now, I just start her up and drive pretty tame until I get it to operating temps. The place that installed it took 8 HOURS to install because they didn't know how to bypass the stock system and the PCM kept kicking them out lol.
That should have warned me....

I installed the Clifford remote start in my VW. It worked perfectly for 2 years and then one day I turned off and removed key, the engine was still running. After turning on and off the key a hundred times, the engine was off. I never use remote start anymore.

If you are asking how hard it is or if it will work or if you can do it,
then just the action of you asking makes me say NO to the aftermarket
and get the stealership to do it for you.
$$ well spent.
Clifford is cheap China Junk.
Viper is next and so on.
Been in most repairing them and they all sork.
Cheap components. Period.
Not constructed for the mobile vehicle enviroment.
A quality aftermarket alarm/remote start system is an oxyMORON.
The PATS system needs to be bypassed and that kills the anti-theft
portion of the OEM anti-theft alarm.
Just leave it running 24/7 and make it just as easy to steal for much less
than an aftermarket remote start system/installation costs.

Thanks all for the input. I'll call a few Ford dealerships around here and see what they offer. I DON'T want my alarm screwed with and the installation done the right way. One mom n' pop auto accessories place in the area is offering remote starters for $99...but something smells fishy to me. Guess you get what you pay for.
