Why are blowers such a ripoff?

I think cams are also a rip off for these cars. $740 for my hot rods...wtf? Rediculous.
But, like others have said, as long as there's morons like me who are willing to pay it, they can get away with it. But who can resist the sweet lope?
When it was all said and done, it cost me about $1K to do cams (well, not quite that much I guess since I'm getting 80% back for returning my spring compressor that I didn't use). That's fukked up so bad. It might have been cheaper if Ford didn't have to have two of these *****.

I also believe its a matter of supply and demand.. I was very temped to get an older GT (00) because of the sale back then on blowers for $1995.00 I think it was... I still might get a 5.0 and throw a vortech non-intercooled on it. "Only" 320ish whp, but it would be fun! lol
I agree though.. $6-7k for a blower kit is a jip.
(O_o)?!

I agree with people buying it at high price...
No reasons to come down on prices yet.
Perfect example: Agent 47 mirrors were $400 when they came out, nobody bought them at that price. They must have sold 2 sets lol.
Then, they were priced down at $240 and the product start to move.
Now at $200 or less, it's not a huge expense and I installed a schit load of them.

What would be interesting, if you could even get this info, is how much does it really cost to produce one whipple, for instance. There's not a lot of metal there so I'd expect it to not be much. Most of the cost is probably in the machines carving it all out needing to be very precise. But still...
But it sucks that one small blower costs as much or more than a complete engine, which has A LOT more metal and all kinds of crazy moving parts that need very critical tolerances. When comparing a single supercharger to a complete engine, or even a short block really, then compare the prices it's like WTF!?

Programmation, testing, making molds for casting etc... You don't get it right the first time.
