Default Sticking parking brake

Now that is getting cold, when my car sits outside and I first take off, the parking brake is dragging. If I raise and lower the handle a bunch, at first there is no tension and slowly it starts increasing tension as the brake releases. Anyone else have this issue?

Yes, I had that problem on my 05 gt. I would have to drive around for minutes to heat up the brakes for them to release. After a couple times the rear brakes were shot. I took mine in a couple years ago while under warrenty and got them to change the e-brake cable, rotors and brake pads. That all seemed to help, but I don't drive the car in winter anymore, that helped the most.

There is a TSB on this issue, You can use the search or just talk to your dealer.

I was having the same issue in this cold weather. Once I would start to drive it felt like every time I shifted that my car was losin power and that the E-brake was still engaged. The parking brake wouldn't tension where it normally does when I pull up on it, but after driving around a bit it was not a problem.

The dealer quoted $250 parts and labor. Looks like I will just park on level ground when it is below freezing outside.

Get the TSB from the stickies. It should list what parts you need. Either do it yourself or ask another shop to do it.

Yeah, someone told me to search for the TSB (my idiot a$$ should have done it in the first place, I know) and I found the list. But I kinda went overboard on xmas shopping for the Mrs. and little one, and told someone I would buy an intake, so I am gonna have to wait til I get some cash.
