Test drove '10 Saleen 435-not that impressed

Don't worry, you won't be able to put the torque down with a whipple HO and 4.10 gears. I feather it shifting into 2nd. I'm getting pretty good at keeping it from spinning or just barely spinning.
The whipple is 500+hp, so it's supposed to make at least 500 crank, but most people make more than 425rwhp. I'm assuming 15% power loss for a manual, which i'm not totally convinced of those numbers.
I may go back to 3.55's, because i've broken it loose to many times changing lanes with full throttle, in 3rd gear no less at only 50mph.

Well, now we're talking. That's a problem I WANT to have (keeping the wheels from spinning!). I had no problems keeping the wheels from spinning with the Saleen 435. I guess I get the Whipple and put my 3.55's back on!!

Was the TCS off? that would definitely put a choke on things.

I agree! After I installed my E-force, my stock 17in. Pirelli tires would just spin on demand... even with 3:55's. But it is much more controllabe now with the 285/40/18 F1s out back. I can still break it loose, but it is much more controlled.
I do plan to get some M&H DR's this winter and can't wait to get a "real launch" with some decent traction in the spring

It felt slugish due to Saleen's tuning. The factory tune on the 435S is very reserved so they never have to worry about warrantys or standards in different states. Our 435S is running our tuning and is a blast to drive. A 435S with a Brenspeed tune our one of our stage kits is far more fun to drive. Our 2010 running a Brenspeed stage 3 w/ bogarts went 11.30's.

I'm running 4:10's with my Brenspeed stage 2 (426/430 at 5500) on my DD and I love it! I actually hook pretty good on street tires but don't get me wrong there is a huge difference in power!

The 435 hp Saleen can turn into 500 plus hp just by changing to the 3.4 pulley, 39 lbs. injectors, Saleen Extreme Intake, a Gates Belt, and a JDM tune.
Good luck,
Al
