its odd cause the way they work they either have enough voltage to illuminate, or they don't. Do you have to have them all the way bright first then dim them to get em to work?

To the op:

As 157 said, you can tap off the illumination wire from your ***. You just have to reach up from under the dash and push it out from the back. It just pops out. you can run it to a relay and pipe in a good 12v to run lots of interior items off of. With that just put a switch in line also, then you can have the switch off, and your car acts as normal, or have the switch on, and when you turn your lights on you interior lights come on.

You can also tap into a +12V from your fuse box for a switched input. The benifit from that, is if you want to have your lights on without your headlights for whatever reason, you dont have to.

Either way, pretty easy and will only cost you a few bucks at radio shack.

Okay I have a question.... I need to run wiring for 2 gauges that everyone keeps telling me for the lighting to splice into the dimmer switch in the headlight switch housing. I also read that if you want to add neons or cathodes to wire into the same place. Is it okay to keep splicing into this wire?

I'm confused!

Up to a point thats unknown.
The semiconductor device in the
SJB will eventually fail if too much
load is placed on it.
Only Ford known what a safe load is.
I have 2 extra 197 bulbs on my interior
lights right now.

My Challenger required relays to add sequentials and keep the load of
the extra 4 filiments off of the LIGHTING MODULE.

While they do dim is really bad for the ballasts.
Expext a very short dimmed life...

Like I said, splice it once to a 12V relay, and run your own fused power to the relay. Then you can have as big a circuit as you want to build.

I pulled out the light switch and remembered one of my lights was out so i looked and found this...

Any idea of a part number or something i can use to get a new one? Would autozone have something like this or only ford?

Also i have the light switch and dimmer console pulled out so i can see the wires but im not sure which ones i can use. I dont care about dimming the lights (especially if its not possible with neons?) but i want them to turn on only when the my color does. anyone have a diagram of which wires go where? i know there was a link a couple posts back with some pdfs but i couldnt get any to load so im not sure if that was what i needed.

Look for the Mustang, Pioneer Avic D3 install post. I'm pretty sure it even has a pic of the wire.
