Default weird, engine shut off while I was driving

So I was a little lost and hopped on this onramp reving out second(t/c was off) and as I hit rev limited I went over one of those strip of raised pavement (that patch up the shi**y road) my dash lights went off and the needles dropped and a sec later it came back on without me doing anything. I couldnt hear much because I had the music blasting but the engine definetly shut off. I do not think it had anything to with hitting the revlimiter it was just a coincidence. Something similar happened to me once before I was on it and went over a little patch like that the t/c light and abs light came on. I just wanted to know if this is something I should be worried about or if it was just because I going over those stupid patches?

Thanks

Check your electrical system. Check your alternator power wire, your battery terminals, and the two grounds on your upper radiator mount.

I had the latter come loose after some mods, and the car would just die with no warning, and come back just as quickly.

I'm having a similar thing. Yesterday I took a long (130 mile) trip with the Mustang which went fine with no issues.

Today I've had the car shut down on my 3 times shortly after departure. In all cases I had it idle for a while before driving off. Then very shortly after departing it shut off on me. After that it's been fine the rest of the (20 mile) trip.

Any ideas what this might be?

im not sure what caused my car to shut off either maybe a safe or fail mode. It shut off when the rear wheels hit the bump, tt was weird everything else stayed on. Has this happened to anyone else or am I the only idiot that manages to floor it over a decent sized bump on the highway? Have you guys been full throtle and gone over an unexpected bump or patch in the road.

Huh? My short rides when I have nothing to do are over 120 miles. My average trips with the Stang are 400 miles one way. Those include the occasional drop from 5th to 3rd and then WOT from about 65 up to about 120 MPH or more and the car has never shut off. I've done a few WOT's from a dig on rough roads and no issues. I suspect you have a loose connection somewhere.

Heh just realized I replied in the 2005-2011 forum. I have a '68 Mustang. For this old lady a 130 mile trip is quite long

But you were right, it was a loose connection. Haven't had any trouble anymore after tightening everything.
