Default for those wanting 4.10s

make sure you don't street race often, they will disappoint you in the long run... My 4th shuts off at around 120, and then you loose the race, seems like I should have got 3.73s as the 4.10s seem to be more track friendly... Acceleration is good but doesn't help against lsx cars..

You shouldn't be street racing anyway. Keep it at the track.

You don't lose the race, you just stop racing. As much as i would like to continue races, imo, its a nice 'safety' to keep me under 120.

Those with 3.73s, what does your 4th top out at?

Here's the top speeds for the manual @ 6500 RPM:

w/ 4:10 -

1: 38
2: 64
3: 97
4: 128
5: 191
R: 37

w/ 3.73 -

1: 42
2: 70
3: 106
4: 140
5: 210
R: 41

Calculated here: http://www.catherineandken.co.uk/sti/tyres.html

Using: 3.340:1 first gear ratio, 2.000:1 second gear ratio, 1.320:1 third gear ratio, 1.000:1 fourth gear ratio, 0.670:1 fifth gear ratio and 3.380:1 reverse gear ratio Tremec 3650

Of course, you may actually get a little less due to drag. I know those speeds at 5th will not happen.

4.10's are great from a dig or from a roll, unless you run out of gear.
so the OP must be doing hwy roll racing, not stop lite to stop lite or autoX.

I wont lie, i do street-race most of the time the opportunity comes up. 99% of the time the race is over by 120, so its not a big deal.

I will more than likely be going with 3.73s once i go FI.
