Carrying a lot of stuff around in the trunk (such as heavy sound equipment) amounts to the same thing as lowering as far as axle location is concerned.
The axle might have been slightly "off" from the get-go, but wasn't as noticeable with the OE wheels and tires.
I suppose that there is a remote possibility (that I really hope is NOT the case) of having rear wheels that don't have exactly the same width and/or offset.
One - Vredestein is a smaller European tire mfr that has been selling in this country for at least 30 years that I personally know of (I ran a set back in the late 70's, as did a friend of mine on a Jag 2+2). Decent tires, actually, if not quite as hard-core as some.
