Default 05 GT cold start idle speed

I was just wondering if it's normal/common for the 05 mustang gt's to rev around 2k rpms for about 5 seconds when you start them cold and it idles around 1.5k until it warms up a little then drops to around 1100 and finally 900 or so when it finally warms up all the way. it's been retuned but I have no idea who did the tune as it was done before I bought the car. I'm more concerned about the 2k rpm part than the 1.5

Thats pretty much what mine does, depends on how cold it is. But doesnt sound like anything abnormal to me, unless both our cars are jacked. haha

I just don't like the idea of it revving 2k before there's a chance for oil to circulate. Anyone know if this can be changed?

This is in the tune. Brenspeed calls it the startup flash. I had them lower mine for my cam tune b/c it was going up around 1600-1700 on a cold start and with my exhaust, it's too loud. It now never goes over 1400 which is much better. My latest bama tune revision wants to go to nearly 2K and so it's WAAAAY too loud. It's like I'm starting a freakin' funny car or something. I should be getting a fix for that from Doug soon.

I also agree that the engine going this high, over 1500, is not a good thing on a cold engine. It takes a little time for the oil to start circulating properly and you really want to keep the RPMs down as low as possible until it's warmed. 1500+ on start up is too much IMO. I know the stock tune never goes as high as some of these custom tunes do.

k good to know it's in the tune. I'll be sure to let doug know when I get my order/parts in that I'd like it not to go over 1500 on a cold start. thanks for the info
