I Hate Dealership Badges

I ordered a magnetic blackout panel and it's on its way. Great. Only I overlooked one "small" thing...totally forgot about the LARGE, raised chrome dealership badge on the trunk lid! Grrrrr!

I'm thinking fishing line + Goo Gone + a warm day (which won't be for many months up here in the good old North) should take care of it, right? I had a small bottle of adhesive remover that someone gave to me but of course, I threw it out after removing some excess undercoating and can't remember what the name of it is.:icon_doh:

But I don't want to have to wait that long and running a cord for a blow dryer, blow torch, flamethrower or other heat-producing device isn't practical.:icon_lol: Any advice on how to get rid of the thing without damaging the paint?

Go to someone else's house that has an external outlet? Heat works.

Use a heat gun to warm it up good then use some 10lb test fishing line behind it and it will just pop off , then clean with some bug & tar cleaner or Goo Gone and then no more emblem.

It's so easy man, heat it up, run fish string or floss under it and rub with Goo gone

Try pouring denatured alcohol slowly behind emblem as you pry it off. The alcohol should soften the glue enough to pull it off. Go slow and use liberal amounts of alcohol.

I see its basically the same trick as removing the everloving rental door trim, LOL. Why are dealer badges even allowed?!?

LOL, when I bought my Stang and they took it out back to clean it up, I specifically told them NOT to put any badges on my new ride. Post a pic up with your new blackout panel :icon_photo:

Got mine in Germany with no badges :)

If I remember correctly, I just pulled mine off with my hands. It wasn't on there as firmly as the side GT badging. Those are coming off next as soon as I decide what to do about the damn holes under them. Ford really screwed us there. Why put holes under a stick on badge???

Bought mine new/used from CarMax. All they put are the lettering in sticker/vinyl form. A pressure washer took care of that without hurting the paint :D

Yeah dealership badges are ridiculous. At most it should just be some lettering that can easily be taken off or something.
