I had brenspeed tunes (used 91 more often than not) along with my C&L cai on my 05 V6. it was a complete night and day difference between stock and tune. i hated going stock (dealer services) because the car felt like it lost power. it had so much more power through out the gears (burned 1st, chirped 2nd and sometimes 3rd) over stock that could do a small burn on 1 and barely chirp 2nd. when cruising down the freeway in 5th, i could pass cars pretty easily where as in stock i had to drop to 4th to pick up passing power. i live in chula vista so the climate isn't drastically different.

i guess there's a large discrepancy in what the stock V6 is putting out in comparison to the stock V8 (meaning how much tuners have to work with).

First of all, I'm sorry, but WTF is the pancake-on-head bunny thing all about?!

I have gone back and forth between the 91 tune and stock a couple of times. Pretty straight forward in the evaluation. The stock tune is definately more linear and consistant in its response. As for matching the Brenspeed tune against the stock tune on a track, that I haven't done so I don't know which would be quicker. I also have not dyno'd so I don't have any HP/TQ numbers.

If you are in 3rd for example at 50 mph and mash the throttle, it seems to bog a bit. The term bog is probably too severe of description, but the car accelerates with a moan but not strong. If I tip into the throttle and slowly push down the car will seem to respond more linear and powerful. This is not true of the stock tune. The stock tune will provide the opposite and more expected feel. Again, I sort of wonder if it advances the spark curve too soon or something.

On hard launch, for example 2500 RPM clutch drop in 1st - The stock tune will provide a harder launch. I get a more aggressive wheel spin with the stock tune. Not a big difference but noticeable to me.
I gotta say, I just got my Brenspeed tunes uploaded yesterday... I was so excited... so far, I'm fairly disappointed. What you've described is EXACTLY how I would described my experience in the past 24 hours on my 07 SGT, same drivetrain I believe, a 91 octane tune. On one hand, I'm taken aback by that powerful surge at around 3000rpm and I know that's where these begin to make good power, but all the sudden, below 3000rpm... I have NO POWER. When you said, BOG, I thought, yes, that's exactly how I'd describe it. I understand the phenomenon of thinking it's less power down low because by comparison you now have MORE in the higher RPM, but this lower RPM power is nothing close to what I had with the stock tune. On the way home on the Freeway, I had to down shift from 5th to 4th to 3rd to get into the rpms enough to get a good pass going. I mean, I'm a picky *** and I love that WOT response for the track, but something isn't right. That said, I called Doug and he recommended I clean the TB as there might be a buildup that they've noticed causing this problem. He mentioned that it's quite possible on all cars, we just don't notice it on stock tunes. Anyway, I'll clean it before I head to the track tonight. I'm a little skeptical that that is the issue, but I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and try it. Stay tuned... (haha... get it... tuned... Like the, ya you got it).

My brenspeed tune knocked half a second off my times. For Daily Driving it is perfect. Very weird that People are having issues.

I used to run 14.5s all day long (6000 ft elevation)...

At the track right now. 1st, .08 light, great launch... 16.07.... WTF!!! Back to stock she goes. This isn't good... And that's after a "cleaned throttle body".

I bet you have a corrupt tune. It happens from time to time. Tell Brenspeed your problem and they will send you another tune.

+1. My JLT CAI and Brenspeed tunes were great. I got 87, 89 and 93 tunes and have tried the 93 and 87 (which I am running now). No problems anywhere. Pulls harder, better mileage and better throttle response. The 87 tune doesn't give up enough HP to the 93 (IMO) to justify the gas price increase when I'm driving 100 miles a day. Although I am sure you can see it at the track.
