Couple questions about the 05-09 stang
I've posted before about planning on getting a 08 in a few months, over a 09/'10... I know its a few months out but I cant help but look at the stangs and parts and dream about having it/modding it lol, so forgive me for posting so much about the car that I dont own yet.
I had a few questions about prices... As I posted before a 08 and 09 are about 4-5K difference with roughly the same miles... 08 being around 20K and the 09 being around 25K...which they are both close to book value.. but there are A LOT of 2010 GT's for 30-32K. For 5 more grand, I could get a used 2010 with less than 400 miles on it... vs a 09 with 10,000+ This makes me feel like I could get that 08 for around 17K instead of 20, easy... right? The reason Im going with 08 over a 09 or '10 for the 5K difference, well, for 1, its 5K and about $120 in payment difference. 08 after my down pay. about 240 a month or less. 09, is about 360 a month, plus $200 insurance.
My mod list for it would:
Performance:
FRPP 3.73 gears
Steeda UDP's
Steeda CAI with SCT tune (87 tune most likely, depends)
Pypes LT with shorty X
Ford Racing K-Springs
Tokico D-spec's
Eye Candy:
1/4 window louvers
Honeycomb trunk panel
Read window louvers (maybe)
Painted Side Mirror Covers
Shorty 8" antenna
Side Scoops
SLP LM Axle Back's
I plan on paying for most of those mods by selling my civic lol. Anyways... I've heard the GT's are about 260 to the wheels stock, correct? What would be an accurate guess at what those mod's would put the car at?

Those 2010 GTs have 15 hp more than the '05-'09 but if you wait until 2011, Ford will be offering the 5.0.
It's really a matter of preference. I for one, love the front end of the 2010 but I can not get used to the rear....yet. However, it is growing on me s-l-o-w-l-y.

Buy a 08, mod it lightly & drive it for a few years... depending on how much I fall in love when I actually get it, I may just keep it lol.. But if I dont, keep it until the 2012 comes out and see how the new 5.0 engine does and then trade my 08 in after stripping as much of the modded parts off as I could, put stock back on and sell them too.

i would go with what you can afford. 05-10 is basically the same power-wise, the 15 extra hp in the '10 is negligable IMO.

It'll take some serious internal work.
With the mods you list you'd be pushing 300-310 RWHP. Add an aluminum DS to your list. These cars are light compared to the Camaro and Challenger and the power-to-weight ratio makes the Stang look pretty good. Plus there are some pretty good weight loss programs that help that.
Don't leave the '07's or even '05 and '06 out of the equation. The '05-'09 are the same.

you dont get 400 RWHP unless your doing some serious motor work. Like a built high compression motor.
If 400 is your mark, your better off getting none of the performance mods you listed, and that would almost give you the 3800 for the Vortech kit from Brenspeed. In comparison, it would be easier to go back to stock too.
