Installing new seat help with airbag codes
 

Hey guys I am putting in some new Corbeau seats this weekend. My car came with side impact airbags and I have been told that there is a way to fool the computer into thinking that they are still in the car so that it doest flash codes all day long. Anybody know how to do that? Also how does the weight sensor works in the passenger seat for the front impact airbag? Can I move it into the new seat?

If I'm not mistaken, the weight sensor on the pass side is located in the factory seat track. I've never installed aftermarket seats, so not real sure about if they're compatible with your new seats. I'd be interested in finding out though, incase I decide to replace my seats. And as far as fooling the airbag system into thinking all the stuff is still inside, there's got to be a way around that. Far too many people install aftermarket seats in DD cars for that to be an issue that everyone would put up with. JMHO

I read in another forum that there is a plug you can get from the dealer to plug into the harness where the side airbags would plug. It is used in cars that dont have the side impact airbags. I called the dealer and of course they never heard of it and told me not to touch the airbags.

Ok I found the part number for this plug. It is actually a resistor that lets the RCM know that there is nothing wrong. Now there are different ideas of how to do this. Some guys say just install these resistors and your done, others say you also have to change or reprogram the RCM. Others say that there is nothing you can do and that just leaving the system unplugged from the airbags will cause the front airbags to not work. The part number is XF2Z-14B022-AA

I got the seats in and have driven the car a couple of times and everything is good except I have one code. It is flashing a LFC 23. Everything else is good though. I am going to take it to a friends shop and scan the code with his diagnostic tool. The weight sensor is a big flat gel like pad that sits between the foam and springs. I was able to pull this out and put it in the new seats and it works just like it is supposed to.

I´m just putting in a Drivers Seat without Airbag in my 2005 Mustang GT.

I found a place to buy that Resistor, but no one
will ship it to Germany.
In Germany this Resistor isn´t available.

Has anyone ever mesured the resistance of the xf2z14b0200aa resistor ?
Maybe someone has that resistor and an accurate ohmmeter to check the exact resistance of that part.

Hope anybody can help me with that.

Latest update :

after doing some research, i´ve solved the Problem.

The resistance of the xf2z14b0200aa resistor is 7 Ohms.
It´s the right Part# for those S197 without Seat Airbag.

BUT

The resistance is to high to fool the RCM.

I´ve read that the Airbag Flash Codes can´t be erased, except by a Ford Dealer.
That´s also wrong.

The RCM in the 05+ Mustang is checking the System every Time
you turn the Key.

An Airbag Error Code is flashing the Light as long as the Error is present.
As soon as it is fixed, the Light will stop flashing the Code.

Knowing this, i´ve tried many different Resistors and finally found that
a 2 Ohm Resistor is right.

Just finished the installation without any Codes flashing.

As there are many different Part# with that Plug-Style, maybe there
is one with the right resistance.

in my case,i just opend the Plug-Housing and changed the 7 Ohm Resistor to a 2 Ohm Resistor.

Everything works well.
