Default Rusting on 2006 GT Driver rocker panel

I noticed the other day small (pin head size) rust spots on the driver sider door rocker panel (next to where it says "MUSTANG") on my 2006 Satin Silver GT.

At first I thought it may be stains but it is definitely rust dots.

How should I go about taking care of this before it gets worse? Will claybar work? Do I need to sand?

Thanks for any help as always.

PM pascal.....he is owns a body shop and he can guide you in the right direction. If it were me, once the area was clean and dried, I would apply some Sharkhide Protectant on it.

Here's their website;
