Noise from shifter
Hey guy, I want to start off by thanking you for all the info I have aquired from this forum. It helped alot with the purchase of my 1st mustang about a month ago. It is a 2005 gt 5 speed. It has 4900 miles on it and it bone stock....for now. I have recently been hearing some noise from the shifter area as i can only describe at "Chattering". I have done alot of research on synchros and everyone describes grinding and difficulty engaging 1-2 and 3-4 gears. My problem isnt anything more than audible. It engages fine and shifts smooth. It usually happens maybe once per outting. I only drive my car 2-3 times a week. But it chatters when the gear is engaged in 3rd 4th and 5th gear. When i engage the clutch it goes away, shift into next gear it the noise reappears. It isnt a painful noise and it doesnt sound like it is doing damage but is certainly not what i would expect out of a car with 5k. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again guys!

My transmiIssion has a rhythmic whine/chattrer/grind sound when in 5th gear. It's had it ever since I have been using aftermarket shifters, but I'm sure it has done it the whole time. Aftermarket shifters transfer a lot of transmission noise to the cabin.
