Default How big of a difference does Gas make?

while half heartedly fooling around with a 370z last night i noticed that he could casually pull away from my car while we were both at full throttle. i know the two cars should both accelerate at the same rate and one should not be faster than the other.

at the moment i am running the middle grade of shell gasoline rather than premium, how much power is generally lost by taking the step down in octane?

I dont think gas is your problem. The 370z is a faster car stock for stock.

it wont make that much of a difference.

and why do you think
i know the two cars should both accelerate at the same rate and one should not be faster than the other.
this makes no sense at all?

370z is faster stock for stock they put out like 325whp, but they are pretty much tapped out when it comes to power. As far as the octane levels, your not going to notice any sort of power increase from 87 to 91 unless you back it with a tune.

the 370z has 333 BHP and 270 TQ. in both car comparison tests that ive read between the stang and 370z both had identical 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times. the 370z just had a higher trap speed by .5 mph.

i also test drove the 370z and the two cars felt similar according to my butt dyno

i think the the better culprit would be i refuse to take the car above 4k rpm until i reach the 2000 mile mark. (80 miles to go!!!)

You were only reving to 4000 RPM and you wonder why he was pulling on you?

Engines have never needed a 2000 mile break in! Start driving that baby NOW!!!!

Im pretty sure that the 370z is lighter and with the extra HP has a couple tenths in the quarter mile

and since you wont take the car about 4k grand this thread is now useless as its obviously why you can beat the car

Higher octane only changes anything if you have different tunes, not stock.

I have a 87 tune with JLT CAI and find that if i run 93 shell or Shell 87 in general I get better mileage IMO.
