The allure of having 400 N/A at the crank and potentially ~350RWHP on a stock engine is nice. I wonder what a good tune could bump that up to?(Not sure if there will be a lot of head room).

Sirknight - I bet you there will be Hot Rods for the 5.0 in the future considering how popular they have become for the 3v, but they will be a lot more expensive I bet since you will have to buy 4 sticks instead of 2. Also I'm with you on all those plus sides!!
Price on the cams doesn't have to be more, and depends on how popular they are. The ford racing cams for the GT500 are almost half that of the 3v http://www.evoperform.com/shop/index...roducts_id=249

so how many of you read where the new 6speed manual is being built? I was thinking about that swap until I saw it is "made in China" kinda puts a sour taste in my mouth, although it does state using Getrag and Ford specs

What are we going to do when Chinese labor is no longer cheap? Will they start building plants in Africa?

Am I the only one that sees how the world is a big house of cards?

Supercharge your 4.6. For the price of swapping to the 5.0, you could get two superchargers and a stock block incase something breaks.

Yeah I agree that just going FI would be the better route for me in the near future. I was just stoked to see that the swap looks like it would be a breeze. I honestly do not plan on selling this mustang that I have, like ever, so if in the future the 5.0 gets cheaper and something happens to the current engine then it might be cool to do. Just by looking even the stock H pipe looks like it would bolt up, we'll see who is the first to do it, I'm sure it won't be me I'm still paying this toy off.

probably will be an easy swap mechanically...the electronics scare me though

yep, you can easily stroke & forge a 4.6 3v and then supercharge it for under $6,000 if you shop around.

then you can easily & safely run 500 RWHP without much effort.

I'm betting that new 5.0 will be easily every bit of $6-7,000 for just a longblock. nevermind core charges & all the other goodies you'll need to purchase. figure an easy $10,000 to make the new 5.0 work.

not worth it IMO for a measly 412 crank HP. at that point you would only be doing it for the "cool" factor

While it may be easy to place the motor in an older s197, the cost and aggrivation of making everything work would not be worth it.

If you want a 5.0, stroke your 4.6. If you want more power add a blower.

My recurring theme is that prices will come down, and then, perhaps only then, people may be more compelled to take a look at the Coyote vs. the 3v.

I have never done a swap on a new car that has an ECM and stuff, I wonder how hard that would be?
