Default Parking Brake/Handbrake issue

Ever since I got the car two years ago, no matter how hard/high I lift the parking brake handle in my 06GT the rear brakes dont seem to hold much, no matter what. I am afraid to pull any harder becase the wire already snapped once before. What is the problem, I just cant think of anything but I am not familiar with Mustangs that much, could someone help with this?

is their any resistance when pulling the E brake

i know mine you have to pull up with force because its almost stiff
so does yours lift up with no effort?

No, I already adjusted the cable tension. I feel like pulling any stronger will snap the cables, seriously. There is pleny of resistance! I had many cars before but never seen anything like this. Is this normal? It just does not hold... I got new brakepads on my rear wheels too... But that did not help...

any idea as to what could be the cause when (my) e-brake wont lock? I can pull it up all I want but it just falls back down and you can slightly hear the click click clicks. I should try tightening that nut though. Mine barely locks at all either, I've been using 1st for months now.

My e-brake doesn't work all that well either. Last winter, my e-brake froze to my brakes and I had to leave my car at my office parking lot overnight. I had to wait until the next day around noon for everything to unfreeze. Since then, so I don't use my e-brake much anymore.

just curious, is it bad to leave your car in gear instead of using the e-brake?

e-brake is best to use when on steep hills as a precautionary measure. I've always put my 5 speed vehicles (ford explorer sport, VW Passat, Grandam) in gear when I park and haven't experienced any issues. =-)
