Default Saleen Installation Weekend - Done

Well, I spent the past two days installing my Saleen suspension (shocks, struts & springs) and my Saleen Stage II supercharger kit from Brenspeed. Everything went ok, however it took a bit longer than we expected. About 15 work hours total between the suspension and the supercharger.

All in all, I'm very happy with it (only driven about 10 miles so far though) and it sounds fantastic. I was surprised at how much the exhaust note changed, and the SC sounds wicked.

I did a fairly aggressive 'test run' once the suspension was installed before we started tackling the SC. The suspension made a huge handling difference and doesn't really feel much stiffer than stock... but it feels way better in the corners.

All in all, it was a very tiresome, sometimes scary and ultimately very fun weekend. I had the help of three great friends and we had a blast putting the car together! Now we have all 3 types of FI between our 4 Mustangs... turbo, centri SC and twin screw SC. :-)

Now if we could only get the dang Saleen guages to work...

Great job. I know you must definately feel relieved now that it's done, and happy to have the new found power. Congrats, and enjoy.

The best feeling is when it fires up the first time.

Pictures please.

Well I have to give a major shout out to Dave at Brenspeed for all his help today. After the install we took the car out for a shakedown run and it just wasn't producing much power, it actually didn't feel any stronger than my car with the JLT and 93 tune. Turns out it was something VERY simple... a single zip tie!!

There is a step in the Saleen instructions that tell you to put a zip tie on the boost bypass valve when installing it to help give you clearance when installing it. Well, the instructions don't say to remove the zip tie, so it left the valve wide open the whole time... with all my 'boost' escaping out!

I found out at work what the fix was (cut off the zip tie, haha) and I couldn't wait to get back home and fix it. Well, I cut it off and went for a spin... WOW! The car feels like an animal now and is surprisingly well mannered when just driving around town and the sound is awesome.

So thanks again to Brenspeed for supplying a great kit and for being there with the tech help... even for something so piddly as this!

Going to try to get to the car dyno'd in the next week to see what sort of numbers I'm putting down. Whatever it is, it's good enough to light them up at 50mph even with 3.31s :-)

We had a camera in the corner of the garage on a tripod and took photos about every hour or so, so I'm hoping to make a time lapse photo slideshow of the install... will post it up once I have a chance to work on it.
