3.73 Gears
Hey guys i am looking to upgrade the gears on my 09 Mustang GT/CS . I have already upgraded the intake to a BBK , the TB to BBK with a steeda spacer, and an underdrive pulley , and got it all tuned. I was wondering if it is really worth the headache to upgrade the rear gears to 3.73 and if it is which brand will you guys reccomend . I have done some research and heard that richmonds are whiny and heard some good reviews from Motives. What do you guys think/???

Ford gears are your best bet. They tend to make the least noise. Motive make the most. Depending what gears you have 3.73 may not be worth it. If you have 3.31 then you'll feel the difference going to 3.73. If you have 3.55 then you won't feel much at all.
Is there a reason you're thinking 3.73 and not 4.10? I spend probably a solid 2 years going back and forth from 3.73 and 4.10's in my head. My car does spend about half it's time on the freeway. Finally bit the bullet and went with 4.10's. It's not like the old days where the car would scream on the freeway with 4.10's. The increase in RPM is barely noticeable. So little, that by the time I got home from the install I already wasn't noticing it. However, the difference in acceleration never gets old!
Just some info for you to think about....

Chose FRPP gears as the others said. I've heard of horror stories with Motive, but that's not to say it wasn't partially due to the install. Hell, Ford makes them, so why not chose them? The general rule here is go with 3.73 if your an auto, and 4.10 if your a stick. But, again, everyone has their own opinion and tends to choose whatever they feel like.

I say Im going with 3.73's but everyting I read a new thread about gears all the 4.10 people have me second guessing myself. I would like to find someone locally so I can test drive each one. I dont do alot of highway driving and will probably never take a long trip with it. I have 3.31's now and cant decide which to go with but whatever I decide to do they WILL be FRPP gears.

The part number for FRPP 4.10's are M-4209-G410A (at least thats how it is on AM)

Guys from what i have read , i see great feedback . My car is manual . i believe i have 3.3s so i will see a big difference whichever way i go . I do have a couple of more questions . One , what difference will it be form 3.73 to 4.1 i just hear alot that the 4.1 seem to be a hassle in the sts and they might be louder and couple of other crap that im not too sure about . Can anyone clarify the pros and cons of both of them? Also, My stang only has 9000 miles, should i consider getting a new bearing kit or is there no need? , I want to do things right , the car is still under warranty and dont want to mess anything up .
