Got a couple ?'s about 4:10s

Well the RPMs will be different depending on manual or auto. Auto's O/D is .71 and manual's 5th is .675 (or .68, close enough). I used to think O/D was .75, but that's for the OTHER 5R55 trans that does NOT end in S. The ending in S version has .71.
So, for auto at 70 w/ 4.10's you'll be doing 2536. Give or take a few RPM due to different tire heights. This is done w/ 27" tire.
For manual you'll do 2429 using .68 5th ratio and every thing else the same as above.
So about 100 RPM higher in the auto.
Just because you're RPMs are high, does not mean you'll suck gas like a ****. It mainly depends on your throttle position and engine load. RPMs alone have a very small effect. I've found 2500 does not make much if any difference from 2000. Maybe it would make a difference if the car has stock exhaust and stock intake where it's not flowing as good as it could be, but by having CAIs, free'er flowing exhaust making the thing more efficient, I just don't see MPG suffering until you get WAY up in the RPMs, like 3K+.
The advantage with the lower gears is getting up hills or taking off from a stop will not require as much throttle and the engine will not have to work as hard.
Don't fear the gear!

Take off in 2nd gear and notice how that feels. Then stop and take off in 1st gear and compare how it felt in 2nd. Now, with 4.10's, taking off in 2nd will feel like taking off in 1st with the gears you have now and in 1st will feel like your trans gained a gear lower than first, a pre-1st. Except that you'll feel this in every gear, like each gear in your trans dropped down.

4.10's rock! I had mine in with a supercharger until I kicked up the boost. You will not lose anything on the top. In fact your top speed will increase because our cars are drag limited, not rpm limited. Top speed in 4th will be about 125 depending on tire size and there is no way you will top out in 5th.
When I was na and went from 3.55 to 4.10 I lost about 2 mpg on the highway and nothing in town. Seat of the pants is like adding 50 hp IMO.

This isnt another "OMG tell me what to get" thread. I just have a few questions.
Okay I have a 05 GT with an Auto tranny in it with just basic stuff (tune, cai, exhaust) and I am going to be purchasing gears with my tax returns and I really have my heart set on FRPP 4:10s.
I am running stock tire size and will probably stay the same size, also and the car will see some track use maybe 3-5 times a year but not too much.
Later on I will be buying a vortech or paxton s/c and I want to get the right gears now for the blower. I am heart set on a centri so please dont suggest staying with stock gears and getting a twin screw. I am looking for some extra acceleration until I can afford the supercharger and I believe gears are the answer.
Are 4:10s going to ideal for a centri s/c?
What rpms am I going to be at around 67 mph and 75 mph?
Is traction impossible with these?
Are these gears great from a roll compared to 3:73s?
And seat of the pants feel, how noticeable are they?
Thanks MFers!

I have read that 410s in an automatic with a supercharger is a bit to much. If i was u i would ask brenspeed. THey are very knowledgeable about our mustangs and could help u with any question. the number is 574-594-9559. THey also do many installs of the vortech and sell them at a good cost

Idk if it will feel as fast as a gt or not I have never even ridden in one of the newer v6's yet but when i put them in my 97 v6 it was a ridiculous change in acceleration. Going from 2.73's to 3.73s made my car feel WAY faster, you are going to love them haha. And to the OP your going to love them too, I did notice a pretty big drop in mpg in my 97 v6 but that engine w/ a redline of 4.5k and a dislike of higher rpm's is a very different engine so I guess that cant really relate to our 3v 4.6's much.
