I'd say, search for a dealer that will let you take a Track Pack equipped 2010 GT for a spin. I know that just by suspension design, car layout, weight distribution, etc, that you will feel the GT isn't as nimble as your Z, but I'm sure a Miata owner would tell you the same about your car . The current gen Mustang is light years better than the Fox-based Mustangs of yore(1979-2004) as a platform to build into a world class canyon carver. I hear the '11s will be out in May or June, but that can change too...........

Well, they're not taking orders on the 2010 anymore so the 2011 isn't too far off.
Keep in mind that the new Mustangs can handle as good as the 350Z with a few bucks spent on suspension, I don't care what your Z boys are saying on that one.
Then you can corner like this one... LOL.

Well for me I rented a V6 Convertible for a weekend. I had the whole time to evaluate Sync, the top down, and the fit and finish of the interior. At the time I was considering a used 07-09 mustang but I was smitten for the refresh. I totally understand the peer pressure but would encourage you to be your own man and get what you want.

For me that was:

V8 Rumble
Four Seats
Convertible
Within my Budget
American

I wish you luck on your decision.
