How are 4.6ers coping with the upcomming 5.0?

Just wondering how you guys are dealing with it...

The 4.6 S197s are decently fast cars... anything that can run in the 13's or better feels pretty good from the driver's seat...

...but our cars are about to be outclassed in a serious way.

So how are you dealing with it?

I've ordered a '11.
:D

something better will always come out... this car was plenty fast the day I bought it and it still is

Sweet... congrats on that!!

I added a poll.

I forgot to put an "other" option... so if your preferred option isn't up there, just explain in your post.

Don't have the cash flow to play musical cars.

yup, fine with my 4.6 add FI and it will be more than fast enough for me.

I figure that I can probably add an e-force for cheaper than selling the 4.6 and buying a 5.0. Plus then i get 540 hp vs 412.

I'm devastated! There is a large quarry down the road from my house....I plan on driving my vehicle off the edge into the quarry and then trying to collect on the insurance. Joking of course! I'm perfectly happy with my ride.

By next year my 4.6 willbe stroked to 5.0 anyway, that and 14psi from my saleen, I am not concerned.... lol, Come to think of it, I'm already not concerned as it sits.

I know what you mean...but this isn't always true. My "other" car is a 1997 Miata...which is undoubtedly considered a girly car around here but over the past decade that I have owned it, the car has a total blast, extremely sharp handling, very fuel efficient (high 30's no the highway), rediculously reliable, incredibly "easy" on parts (this car has 185,000 miles on the original clutch despite thousands of second gear chirps and doezens of autocross runs, etc).

The subsequent versions of the car have been a bit faster in the acceleration department (still slow though!! :D ) and certainly safer in an impact... but none of them are any more fun. I have driven every version of the car and while they offer something different, they're not clearly better overrall. I love that about my Miata. Its just perfect for what it is.

The problem I'm sensing with the Mustang GT is that it's main talent (hard, glorious acceleration) is very easily measured in an objective way and it's easy to see when another car is better.

I'm thrilled with my GT. I have had it for almost a year now and I look forward to driving it every day...but unlike with the Miata, when I look at the upcomming model, its obviously going to be a better car in the important measures.

I try to focus on the reasons that I love my Mustang GT but it's hard not to pine for the new one.
