New 2011 GT or 2009 GT500 Help me decide
I have always wanted a Mustang GT so I placed an order for a 2011 GT. I have been reading a lot since then, and I want to be sure I am doing the right thing.
Basically I can get a 2008 or 2009 GT500 used with 5k to 10k miles on it for what I am paying for the new car.
Reasons to get 2011 GT
I am sure I will be happy with the stock power of the 2011 initially, but it seems most people get the bug for more power eventually.
I can get the car exactly as I want it.
Full warranty
Better interest rate on new car loan.
I am a bit nervious to buy a $39,000 used car
Reasons to consider GT500
I think the GT500 will hold more of it's value than the 2011 GT.
more power if I decide I need it in the future.
Initial depreciation taken by origional purchaser.
Will the GT500 be more difficult to drive in a city situation? Any advice or opinions will be appreciated.

I would personally get the used GT500 with low miles.
Stronger motor, can handle boost. will hold it's value better, still have a warranty with teh factory blower, even modded, etc.
Plus, the Trans. is stronger, the fun factor, the "exclusive" feeling and type of car it is, etc.
That is just me though.

get the gt500, hands down.
better engine and mild mods will make plenty power.
5.0 vs 5.4
NA vs SC
will need to be built to handle big boost vs ready for big boost
412 hp vs 500
if you're patient you can find a good used gt500 in the lower 30k range

Wow, $39K for a used 2008 GT500 is ridiculous. There was a $60k Roush Mustang that sold for $40k, brand new. Cars are being discounted like crazy out here in CA. The trouble is getting the bank to secure the loan. I disgress.
Personally I vote for the 2008-2009 GT500. 1) It looks much better, 2) There's plenty of aftermarket support for more power, 3) a slick manual from the factory, 4) it's a Shelby (yes, I know it's not built by SAI) which means there are plenty of laid out builds to follow like the Super Snake, 5) it's supercharged from the factory.

This is an easy one. Find a good deal on a GT500 and you'll be better off in the long run. New cars lose almost half their value in the first 3 years of ownership. But Shelby's definitely retain their value much better than regular mustangs. Let's play this out and see where you'd be three years down the road. Lets say you pay 35k for a 2011 GT today. In about three years, it will be worth around 18k. Now let's say you pay the same 35k for a used GT500 today. In those same three years it still might be worth 25-28k. Maybe even higher if you keep the mileage down. Moreover, you would own something special as opposed to owning a regular GT. Trust me, three years from now a 2011 mustang GT is not going to be ANYTHING special! But a Shelby will always be a Shelby.
