Default A Series of Unfortunate Events... :(

Apparently I was parked to close to the curb. When I left work last night I was backing out of the spot and heard a loud scraping sound followed by a POP. Of course I knew immediately what it was… I continued to pull out of the spot all the way and then stopped the car to inspect it. Of course I had rubbed the bottom of the bumper on the curb. (FIRST PICTURE) There was a piece of plastic that was hanging out from the bottom of the car, I knew it wasn’t in the right place so I sort of pushed it back up under the bumper. Seemed to pop back into place. But of course wasn’t attached to the screws that were also under the bumper.

Well today on my way to work, I decided to do a precise test on when exactly the hood would start to flex, because I planned on making a short video clip about it and wanted to have the camera ready at the exact time. So I hit about 130mph and heard another LOUD POP, SCRATCH, SWOOSH SCRATCH. IT SCARED THE **** OUT OF ME. Every possible thing ran through my head. The HOOD IS FLYING OFF!!! NOPE!!! THE ENGINE JUST BLEW!!! NOPE!!! A TIRE?!?! NOPE!!! I then looked in the rear view mirror to see a ton of Black plastic things flying through the air.

So my question is… WHAT THE HELL AM I MISSING NOW?

Could someone please compare their car to what they see when they look in the same areas as in pic2 and pic 3?

i feel your pain. ever since i lowered my car, i have parked over about 5 curbs and scratched up the underside of my bumper. that black plastic thing that went rolling down the road was your plastic air dam. mine too ripped off the screws and i had to bend it back up under the bumper. luckily mine has not completely separtated itself from my car yet and i was able to rig it back to the screws the last time i had it on a lift.

Yeah, looks like your lower air-difusser is missing! About $23-25 from a dealer someone recommened to me from this forum, can't remember off the top of my head. I have the part number and dealer info at home or I would shoot it to ya now(I'm at work though sorry). If ya want, send me a PM to remind me if you need the number?? Or, maybe someone will see this and have it handy!!

Hey Boozshey...If I were you, I'd replace it! It's not an expensive piece, and like Stoenr sez, could effect cooling down the road later!!

My friend had an 89 Supra, and would overheat on the highway, could not fiure it out until someone said that the lower cover was missing. Ordered, installed, no more overheating

If you still need the parts info..

Lower Valance(air-diffusser) Part # 5R3Z-17626-BA

If you need the screws and clips, Part #'s N801169-S439 and W711274-S439

Hope this helps..
