So, what would happen should I set the idle at 500 rpm's?
Deeper exhaust note?
save on gas?

Stall occasionally? Make life harder on the converters?

I honestly don't understand why you'd want to give up anything to make your car sound like it's got a big cam in it when you aren't going to have the big top end HP to back up what the sound at idle is supposed to promise. Some "P" word or other comes to mind here.

Then again, maybe it's no worse than running drag radials on the street . . . on an otherwise completely stock 4.0 sixxer car.

Hope OP has got what he wanted all figured out by now, given that it's been over 6 years . . .

That's way too low. At 500 RPM I wouldn't be surprised if you ran into oil starvation issues.

I hadn't thought about lowering the idle RPM to hear how my cams sound, but it's been on 750 RPM and sounds great right there.
