Thanks, really appreciate it.

How much more do you think the 2011 5.0's are going to be? i know I'd be stupid not to wait, but I usually avoid first year models until all of the bugs get worked out. Just look at how many problems the Camaro and GT-R are having.
The only thing that will make me wait is if they release a new lighter chassis thats the reincarnation of a foxbody (light, fast and cheap) to go with that bad *** 5.0 DOHC

I've always wondered that as well... on the Build and Price section of Ford's website, the Track Pack and Spoiler are not allowed to go together (I believe it was the spoiler). Some of these combination restrictions make no sense to me.

Check out the roush or steeda handling suspension packs, those are really good. The track pack is good, but nothing to write home about. The biggest thing is the "track pack 1" with the 3.73 rear axle, upgraded brakes, and better traction control for a 400 dollar option. If you get the base gt with that, and then an upgraded handling back, you'd be set.

What tires come with the track pack on the 2011? I'm curious how they compare to say a goodyear f1 supercar.

This is an interesting discussion. I too am a "stripper guy" looking to make my car sort of a street legal DE / track day car.

Hanging back and letting the 2011's depreciate the 2010's and then picking up a lightly used 2010 and using FRP and some other goodies to beef up the suspension, brakes and add a couple handful of ponies has real appeal.

If you're gonna strip it for track duty, why not start with an '05-'06 model? Cheaper, same underpinnings, responds equally to the same mods and are the lightest of the S197 GTs as the side-airbags were optional and are dirt-cheap($12-16K for low mileage examples). Just a thought.......
