Default Did I set my pinion angle correctly?

After all the reading I've done about pinion angles, I'm still confused. Some say to subtract the two numbers and some say to add them. Anyway, I checked my OEM driveshaft and it's at -6 (sloping down). My pinion was initially at 0 but I adjusted it to +3 (sloping up).

-6 + (+3)= -3

Is this correct?

Thanks in advance!

I've read that site many times and I'm still a bit confused. The driveshaft doesn't vibrate right now. I'm just confused about whether the pinion should be angled down more or up more. The driveshaft is angled down at 6 degrees or -6. The pinion was at 0 initially. If I subtract -6 from 0 then it would be -6 which is too much. I then adjusted the pinion to point up so that would make it +3. Pointing up is a positive number isn't it? That's how I came up with this number...
-6 + (+3) = -3

The Cherod site says to subtract the two numbers. If my DS is at 6 then what should I set my pinion to? 3 up or 3 down? Do you still subtract no matter if the pinion is pointing up or down? Somehow this is where I'm confused. Like I said, my pinion is now pointing up beyond horizontal by 3 degrees.

pointing down is basically want you want for the pinion. so that would be negative a couple degrees then

I guess I read the angle gauge incorrectly when measuring the pinion and thought that pointing the pinion up would give me the correct setting. I'm going to point it down for a reading of -3. Thanks!
