Default Just bought my first set of rims!!! 20" Shelby Redlines! question about tires.

Hey everyone i just had a quick question about the different kinds of tires everyone has and im just not exactly shure which size tires to get with my new rims. The guy said not to go over 285 and i DO like that wide look but i was just curious to what kind of setup with tires that you guys have! i know nitto 555s are great (expensive) tires but they dont last very long and this is ALMOST my everyday car so any ideas on brands and makes would help me ALOT! also any cheap site to get tires also! Thank you and i can wait to put these suckers ON! i got staggered front 20 by 8.5 and rear 20 by 10 width

I have toyo proxies 4 on mine... Mine sits in the garage so maybe someone else can chime in on how long they last. I am running 295 out back in a 10 inch wide rim, and 255 up front... on 8.5... I almost picked those rims but I got a great deal on mine... Congrats

Nitto NT555's last long. They are street tires.

Nitto NT555R's do NOT last long. They are drag radials.

I prefer the Nitto NT05's. They last a decent amount of time and they hook up pretty damn well for street tires.

I have the same size wheels & off-sets. I run 255's in the front & 285's in the rear. I currently have the tires that came with the package (cheap tires). When I wear those out, I will be going to Nitto's....(street tires). I put a set of drag's on a stock pair of 17's for the track.

You could buy my Nitto Invo's with low mileage on them.....
20" staggered set. I'll throw in a set of damaged black chromes to target practice with.

I run Toyo proxes 4's and they are great , no issues, and they have a good threadwear
index, i'm not beating on them but i do the occasionnal burnout here and there and still have plenty of thread left, i also liked the fact that i could run 295's in the rear with a 10 in rim. 285's have close to 1/4 inch less sidewall than your front 255's which is not much but 295's have the same sidewall than 255's.

whatever you chose ,post some pics of these bad boys on the forum.

I'd go with a 255/35/20 up front with a 295/30/20 out back. Those size tires will fit those rims very nice.
