Default Opinions: Cats or No Cats w/ Hot Rod cams

Got my cams in yesterday, now I'm about to pull the trigger on the Kooks L/T headers. Catted H or Non-catted?

Does the catted H still sound mean as hell? Thanks for the opinions

If you are looking fo all out performance then go with no cats. Without the cats your tuner will be able to throw a little more timing in you set up which will make more HP. Also cats with cams tend to put off a nasty odor sometimes. On the other side without cats your car will smell like it is running rich all the time. Tough choices ahead!!!

With your set-up I would go with cats. O/R midpipe and straight thru axlebacks such as stingers will produce trumpeting or this blat sound at mid throttle. At least from my experience, hi-flow will not take way too much volume and it will actually sound deeper and a little more refined.

I have Kooks high flow cats and the sound/flow difference is VERY small compared to O/R.

Trust me...you want cats. I ran those cams with and without cats and it wakes the dead without. It also chokes you to death without cats.

The car will be substantially louder with the cams.

Yeah I'd go with the cats. If for no other reason, the rest of us have to breathe the same air.

I have the Hot Rod cams. I have the Pypes headers and O/R H no cats. Thought with my vert I'd choke to death with the top down. Not bad at all really. Had the top down this past weekend and my girlfriend didn't even notice the vapors. That says alot because she's sensitive to perfumes and other stuff. Before when I had the stock exhaust with factory H and cats it smelled like sewer gas lol. I much prefer no cats. But I will have to buy a new midpipe and cats when inspection time rolls around in November.
