Default My Mustang GT on Mustang Dyno Results

I had the day off, so I took my car to Horsepower Sales in Orlando, FL to get my car dynoed. The previous run that I had was on a Dynajet Dyno and I got 293 rwhp and 304 rwtq. Since then I have added American Racing Headers 1 5/8" long tube headers and matching X-pipe as well as switching from Borla Stingers to Pypes mid-mufflers. The tune is from Brenspeed. End result was 267 rwhp and 277 rwtq. Remember, these new numbers are on a Mustang Dyno which shows significantly lower numbers than a Dynajet Dyno. The guys at Horsepower Sales have nicknamed the dyno "The Heartbreaker" due to people expecting Dynajet numbers on their Mustang Dyno. The manager's '09 GT500 only got 391 rwhp on this dyno, so that shows how different the two types are. Everyone their was impressed with these numbers. Here is a video of one of the runs. I'll post the sheet later when I get access to a scanner.

Dynos are really only for tuning and reference. The low numbers won't change how much power your car is making. Mustang dyno's load the wheels just like the motor was pushing the car's weight. Better for tuning.

Sometimes too much emphasis is put on numbers.

That's the first time I've seen one dyno'ed with the hood down. Usually they have it up trying to get as much cooling as possible.

If the shop can supply air flow it is more like real world conditions to keep the hood down just like when driving.

Man if I paid all that money for dyno pulls only to see 267 rwhp and 277 rwtq...I'd kick over a toolbox or something.

But +1 it sounds great!

Exactly. It lost 5 rwhp and 5 rwtq. Not too bad.

Wow that sounds awesome...
How does a stock 4.6L 3v show up on this dyno?

When are you bringing it back to the real dyno? Got to make it out there before it gets hot again.

Unfortunately, you really have learned much in the way of what those mods did for your car. Consistency is the the name of the game when dyno'ing. Even trying to retain the same dyno tech can often be a determining factor in seeing correct results.

I'd say bring it back to the dynojet so you can really see how those mods and tune have worked out for you.
