Where would a gas smell be coming from

i had the exact problem. They were walking around in circles for almost 2 months and my car was tied up in their shop for 3 + weeks.

Just realized the report didnt state what went wrong

My cylinder head ( forgot if it was right or left ) had a manufacturing defect in it. Somehow there was extra metal in the casting that lead to crankcase fues forcing their way past the valve covers....i think that was how the shop foreman explained it to me

I looked under where the fuel filter is. But, didn't take any covers off and didn't see anything. Do I have to take any covers off to see the possible leak there? Or should I just see it by looking under there?
That in itself is too ironic to even crack a joke at .

Yes. There's a plastic shroud covering the area where the fuel filter is. Finally managed to find good pics for ya. Note for whatever reason though, that the first pic on this page is upside down. Can't imagine why. Here it is correctly oriented.



I can tell ya from my experience, getting the shroud off was kind of a b!tch. It might be easier to just remove one side just to be able to check for a leak.
