Please elaborate. I'm not trying to flame, you just didn't explain your position fully. I don't understand for two reasons:

1. The shop buys the part, but to save money, they buy a cheaper/less durable/weaker/etc piece, and you hurt yourself in the long run while they make more money.

2. The shop buys the part you were going to buy. I fail to see much difference than if you buy the part yourself and bring it to them.

i bought the gears first online. i went to the shop and he said he could install them with a new bearing kit that he supplies and i would have no whine. everything cost like $830 all together. he did the install and the whine was slight at first, he told me it was tranny. now it has gotten worse and it is coming from the rearend. he now says that if backlash is correct and wear pattern is in the middle that i must have bad frpp "A" gears from ford and i will have to battle with them. he is going to check it in a couple weeks cause he is busy. i now understand that a wrong pinion bearing pre-load set by him when installing gears could cause whine. since i didnt get the gears from him that is the way he is going to bail out on his word of no whine.
