Getting Flowmaster AB's built versus bought

How much would a muffler shop charge to fabricate some Flowmaster classic 40 mufflers into axlebacks?

The actual axlebacks are over $400 on various websites, but the mufflers by themselves are just $106.22 apiece at Flowmaster's website. I'm thinking I could get those and some 6-8 inch slash-cut tips and have a shop install them cheaper than buying the pre-made ones.

Anyone got an opinion?

I also like the Super 44 models. Anyone have personal experience with those?

I've always been partial to the "super 40s" Nice tips ain't cheap meng @ $90+ each(magna, SLP) - but it depends which way ur gunna go. shop will prob want 100 bux too, so do the math

i had the super 44's on my fox, was too quiet
the classic 40 series sound better and louder, IMO
i would guess that a muffler shop would fab the axle back for no more than 2 hours labor

I'd just want some simple slash-cut, non-rolled stainless tips.

i paid 120 to have my M80's welded into the overaxle pipe.
muffler shop should have some tips to choose from, maybe cheaper than ordering online.
my first axle back setup was spintechs that a shop fabbed for me with their 4" tips
IIRC the labor was 150.

holy crap $120 to get the m-80 welded in???

I paid $30

I would think that it rob would cost you around $100-150 if you just wanted basic slashed tips and for them to weld 2 mufflers up

do you have to disconnect the battery and/or computer when youweld the exhasut?

Thanks for all the replies. I'll be listening to sound clips and saving money in the meantime. Not sure I even want to do anything else to my car....except fix all of its problems.

I called a few exhaust shops last week inquiring about the same thing. One quoted me $365 with new tips and another quoted $225 w/o tips. This included install.
