Default about cleaning wheels/ aluminum chrome parts

i read through the entire thread " cleaning your baby", it was very helpful but i have a few more questions:

If my aluminum wheels are clear coated, doesnt that make them more like the body of the car? in other words i shouldnt use a metal polish on them right? just regular car wash and wax?
What about the spinners? are they really chrome, or plastic? they dont feel like real metal to me, lol , and the "chrome" rims around the interior airvents etc. is that real chrome and how should i polish that up?
also i bought meguires insane tire shine, the stuff looks amazing but it says it contains acetone. could that damage the clear coat on the aluminum rims as well?
thanks,
Chris
