replacing the battery...

My car eats Optima Red's for breakfast, usually it's slow death lasts about a year. Unfortunately I lost the receit and didnt worry about it because people said "Optima Red Top FTW". Went with a Les Schwabb(local tire shop chain) which I think is an interstate, will let you know how that goes in about 8 months.

If your stang kills optimas, then the lesser brands
dont stand a chance until the problem is resolved.
Fix the problem, dont just band-aid it.

I would agree with that but I have no idea where to look. The car is not showing signs of an issue other than the battery dies if I leave it sit for a few days. Ive started turning off the shaker500 before shutting off the car since the last replacement but thats about all I can think of everything else works fine.

Troubleshoot.
Get hold of a good ammeter, place it in the circuit at the battery. With the engine and all accessories turned off, take a reading. Then begin pulling fuses 1 at a time. You should be able to isolate which circuit is the culprit. Since there can be multiple devices powered from a single circuit, you'll have to then isolate each device individually but if you want to solve this issue, that's what has to be done.
I'd also have the alternator tested. If it's not charging the battery as well as it should, that could be causing the battery to slowly degrade.

I just did mine...nothing special in particular to know. Only trouble I had was the mid-year split in 2007 where they changed the battery group size. Apparently the 07s made in 2006 have a 90-1 group size. Hope that helps.

a blown fuse will suffice.
This will allow you to place the DVM in circuit without
disturbing the ever so touchy batter terminals.
Pull a fuse and insert the blown fuse. Then back probe
the top of the fuse and take a reading then record it.
Do this for every fuse under the hood and on the SJB
inside the vehicle.
Presto, errent amperage draw found.

Connected the Neg terminal, got the little horn beep, got in the car and she fired right up. All stations were still programmed, windows worked fine.
So no battery for 4-5 months it lost nothing.
